Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour’s John Stanley Loses Year Long Battle With Cancer

KINGSTON, ONT – The Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour lost its brightest star yesterday with news on the passing of John Stanley.

John was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer early in 2019 but made the decision it would not prevent him from racing last year. Throughout the season he would win many heat races and capped it all off with a win at the Paradise Speedway in late September.

John was known for his razor sharp wit, always cracking jokes in the pits and after the races with the other driver’s. He always enjoyed what he was doing and in his own words he was “Just happy to be here”.

John was a staunch supporter of our series and our inaugural Champion in 2017. Without his loyal commitment there very well may never have been a Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to wife Cheryl, parents Jack & Bev and the rest of the family.

For the remainder of the 2020 season all feature starts in all divisions will be in the missing man formation.

The Blue #2 will be on the pole.
