Donny Schatz Scores Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown Opener at Dodge City; Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania on the Horizon

BROWNSBURG, IND – Continuing his march toward the 2019 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz put together a near-perfect campaign in the Sunflower State during the recent weekend, eventually concluding his two-day visit to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas, with a pair of podium finishes, one of which a victory – his ninth of the season.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, earned his Dodge City triumph during night one of the annual Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown. Resulting in a near-wire-to-wire victory for the ten-time World of Outlaws champion, Schatz led 24 of the 25 circuits. David Gravel, who started alongside Schatz from the front row, led lap one before getting overthrown by Schatz on lap two.

Although not accomplishing the weekend sweep, Schatz concluded Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown competition with a third place performance on Saturday, September 21; he started in the exact same position.

“I think we would have been happier to win both, but to leave Kansas with a victory, as well as the points lead, is important for this team,” Donny Schatz said, who owns a 22-point lead in the current World of Outlaws championship standings. “Hats off to this Toco Warranty, No. 15 team. The West Coast swing can be tough, and the drives between are no better. They continue to stay focused which makes my job easy.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will truck further down the highway and set their compass on a trio of stops in Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania during the coming weekend, first visiting Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois, on Wednesday, September 25, followed by a stop at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, on Friday, September 27. The weekend will conclude one night later at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. Donny Schatz is certainly no stranger to all three destinations, earning multiple Kings Royal, as well as Silver Cup championships, over the course of his storied career.
