MOORESVILLE, NC – Last night, the Kyle Larson Racing team headed to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif., for the return of the first Mini Gold Cup since 2016. Carson Macedo had a near perfect night en route to picking up his first World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win of the season.

Macedo kicked off the night by earning quick time in the opening flight of time trials as well as being the quickest overall qualifier. He went on to get the initial jump in his heat race to pick up the win and transfer in to the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash.

“Joe Gaerte, Heath [Moyle] and Trey [Bowman] are doing a really good job on my race car,” said Macedo during the dash draw. “My Chevy Accessories No. 2 has been good all night. We laid a really good lap down in qualifying and had a good heat race. It put us in a good position for this dash. It’s a tough field of cars and a tough format, so you have to make the best of it every time you get out there.”

Macedo started and finished the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash in seventh, which lined him up to start the 35-lap feature even from the inside of Row 4. The opening laps of the main event were plagued with cautions, but it allowed the pilot of the Chevrolet Accessories No. 2 to take advantage and climb his way towards the front and by Lap 10, he was up to fourth.

“What a cool race, my car was really good,” Macedo said in Victory Lane. “I wanted to bide my time, it was really technical up there and I thought there might be a few cautions. I was able to make up some good ground on the restarts and once I got by Brad [Sweet] I thought if I could get a good enough run off of four, I could slide him getting in to Turn 1 and it just kind of worked out.”

After a restart on lap 16, Macedo jumped up to third and then advanced in to the runner-up position the following lap. The caution was once again displayed on Lap 20, and the 22-year-old lined up to restart from the outside of the front row. He was able to get a good restart to be able to slide the leader going into Turn 1. Macedo survived one more caution and led the final 14 laps to score his first victory of 2019. “This feels so good! This racecar was phenomenal. Joe is my hero, he always gets my car really good,” exclaimed Macedo. “I have had the pleasure, for the last couple of years, to drive for him and now for Kyle Larson to give us a shot, what a cool deal! I can’t thank Chevrolet Accessories, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Complete Parts and Equipment Solutions, GoPro Motorplex, Lucas Oil, Imperial Wagyu Beef, Durst and all the great people involved that makes this thing happen. We couldn’t do it without any of them. I am just having the time of my life, this is a dream come true for me, so hopefully we can keep putting wins up on the board!”

The Kyle Larson Racing team will be back in action tonight at the Stockton Dirt Track for the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.
